Golf Safety

Golf is a low-impact game, but it is not risk free. A struck ball or a swung club can cause serious injury. Always check that nobody is standing near you before you swing, keep a safe distance from other players, wait until the group ahead is well out of range before hitting, and shout "Fore" loudly if a shot heads toward anyone.

Never look at the sun through a laser rangefinder, and follow the manufacturer's laser safety label. Lightning is a real danger on an open course: leave the course or get to a proper shelter at the first sign of a storm, and do not shelter under a lone tree. In hot weather, drink water through the round, wear sun protection and take shade breaks, especially if you walk. When pushing a cart on slopes, use the parking brake whenever you let go of the handle, and lift and fold equipment with your legs rather than your back.
